Executive Assistant, Academic Affairs, Thomas Worcester

Hello there, my name is Thomas Worcester Jr. I’m from a small town in Oklahoma named Fort Cobb. After high school I attended a trade school named Caddo Kiowa Technology Center for Graphic Design. At Caddo Kiowa I had the chance to become a SkillsUSA Oklahoma State Officer. As a state officer it gave me the training on how to become a leader for my school.

After graduating from  Caddo Kiowa a worker had approached me about branching out to schools in the West which led me to attend college in Santa Fe at the Institute of American Indian Arts. I earned a B.A. in Cinematic Arts & Technology. From there I realized I enjoy working for colleges from my experiences as a former college student. After graduation I was hired as an A/V Tech for IAIA which led to an opportunity in Corpus Christi for Del Mar College. At Del Mar College I became a Career Counselor. Working for Del Mar College allowed me to expand my skills, which is what led me to San Carlos Apache College.

When I first came to SCAC I started as a Library Tutor, then a receptionist position, and finally into an Executive Assistant position for Academic Affairs. It’s been an interesting journey along the way. If I were to say anything it’s that don’t be afraid to jump into the unknown. You’ll be surprised by the opportunities that you can create. No one will tell you this, but there are rewards in fear. You got this. I believe in you.
