Joseph Burshia is an enrolled member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe and resides in the 7-Mile Wash District. He comes from the Dis’Cheen Clan through his mother’s side and also has Fort Peck and Standing Rock Sioux heritage through his father’s side. Joseph is passionate about serving his tribal community and helping organizations build strong, supportive workplaces. He is a Human Resources professional with over 15 years of experience working in military, tribal government, healthcare, housing and telecommunications. Throughout his career, he has worked in many areas of Human Resources, including employee relations, recruitment, policy development, compliance and organizational support. He believes that investing in and empowering fellow San Carlos Apaches strengthens not only individuals but the entire Apache community.
A proud United States Army veteran, Joseph served his country for nine years, where he began his career in Human Resources. His time in the Army taught him the importance of leadership, accountability, teamwork and putting people first. That experience shaped how he approaches Human Resources today, seeing it not just as policies and procedures, but as an opportunity to mentor, encourage and help others grow in their careers.
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Strategic Human Resources Management. He is committed to continuing his professional growth and staying current with best practices that help strengthen both employees and organizations.
Outside of work, Joseph enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. He is actively involved in his church and values faith, service, and giving back to his community. Joseph is honored to be part of the San Carlos Apache College team and looks forward to supporting the College’s mission while helping contribute to its continued growth and success.
