Dorene Jones, LMSW, Social Work Adjunct Faculty

Being here to teach and mentor future social workers is both an honor and a privilege—this work is challenging, but incredibly rewarding! I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Hawai’i, and I am a licensed master social worker (LMSW) in the state of Arizona.

Outside of teaching, I work in the behavioral health field and bring professional experience that spans from foster care, addiction services, and community-based support. My practice is rooted in trauma-informed care and culturally responsive approaches that honor the strengths and stories of the individuals and communities I serve.

In the classroom, I strive to create a learning environment that is inclusive, reflective, and grounded in the core values of our profession—service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. Together, we love biking, hiking, and traveling—especially to the beach.

Teaching allows me to stay connected to the future of our profession, and I’m continually inspired by the dedication and insight students bring to the work. It’s an honor to be part of your journey.
