Biology and Natural Resources Faculty, Emily Lucas

Dagoteh! My name is Emily Lucas and I’m originally from Maryland, but have also lived in Colorado, Massachusetts, California, Arizona, and most recently, Bogotá, Colombia. I received my B.A. in Environmental Science with a minor in Southwest Studies from Colorado College, where I did my thesis on the environmental and spiritual importance of Chi’chil Bildagoteel/Oak Flat. Recently, I received my M.S. in Marine Biology from UC San Diego. I’ve been a member of Apache Stronghold and around San Carlos for the past ten years, but this is my first semester teaching at SCAC and I’m very excited to be here. In my free time I enjoy being outside, hanging out with my cats and lizard, traveling, and doing leatherwork.
