Dagot’ēē! Shīī Naelyn Pike gonszēē. Shīī haste’naiye nshłįį. Ha’k’ayeh’ bá ninshtįį (Greetings, my name is Naelyn Pike. My clan is Old People Standing in a Row. My paternal clan is Grinders.) I am a dedicated professional and enrolled member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe from the Peridot District. Raised in community-led movements, I am deeply passionate about bridging the gap between educational institutions and Apache students. I hope to use my personal experience navigating educational institutions as an Indigenous woman to provide students with comfort and assurance that we are deserving of quality education. Instilled by those before me I firmly believe in preserving and revitalizing language, history, and culture for future generations.
After graduating from Globe High School, I began my journey as a Receptionist and eventually an Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, where I honed my leadership and organizational management skills. In this capacity I have been able to work on pilot projects like the San Carlos Apache Sports Complex, Chairman’s Scholarship Program and the Emerging Leaders Youth Cohort providing opportunities for safe spaces, pathways to higher education and leadership skills to Apache Youth and life long learners.
I hold an Associate of Applied Science in Organizational Management from Mesa Community College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a minor in Anthropology from Arizona State University. I am currently pursuing graduate studies in Indigenous Education at Arizona State University, focusing on amplifying the voices of Indigenous people. Through this program I am given the chance to navigate ways in nurturing Apache culture, wisdom and identity through education.
Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I am the oldest granddaughter of my paternal and maternal grandparents, instilling the responsibility we carry as Apache matriarchs. My favorite role has been being an auntie to my only niece who brightens up my entire day. In addition, I enjoy harvesting wild Apache foods with my partner, writing poetry, and long distance running.
As a Marketing Manager for the San Carlos Apache College, I concentrate on public relations and marketing development. I strive to empower the student community and promote higher education as a vital component of community growth. Through my work, I aim to create pathways for success and ensure the needs of Apache students are heard.
