Adjunct Faculty / “Psychology Faculty, Shelley McPherson”

Shelley D. McPherson, MSPsych, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, was born and raised in Enid, Oklahoma. She currently serves as the Human Resources Director at San Carlos Apache College and brings more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in human resources, employee relations, leadership coaching, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and organizational development. Before serving at San Carlos Apache College, Shelley held leadership roles including Director of Human Resources and Risk Management for Gila County, Arizona, and Director of Human Resources and Risk Management for San Carlos Apache Telecommunications. Shelley also has additional HR leadership experience in manufacturing, banking, and multi-site operations.

Shelley earned both her Master of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Business and Personal Coaching and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in both programs. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies and holds the professional certifications of SPHR — Senior Professional in Human Resources and SHRM-SCP — Senior Certified Professional.

In addition to her work at San Carlos Apache College, Shelley is the President of Abundant Life Coaching and Counseling, where she works with individuals and organizations. She is also a Presidential Member and Counselor with the American Association of Christian Counselors and is certified in both Christian Counseling and Coaching and Military and First Responder Counseling. Her professional interests include psychology, leadership, coaching, workplace culture, conflict resolution, and supporting psychologically safe and inclusive environments.

On a personal note, Shelley married to Pastor Gary McPherson and enjoys spending time with her large family, including her 9 children, 35 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous pets.
